Growth & Sustainability
We are passionate about our role and responsibility to help protect our planet. We strive to look beyond medicines and consider the interconnections of climate, society, nature and health to deliver real impact to society.
Across the EMEA region, we are focused on practical actions that reduce our environmental impact while supporting sustainable growth. Our priority areas include transitioning our company car schemes towards electric and hybrid vehicles, reducing emissions from business travel through more informed decision-making and improving the efficiency of energy use across our offices.
We are also advancing our work on the sustainable patient pathway, considering how the delivery of our medicines can minimise environmental impact while maintaining high standards of patient care.
At a global level, Kyowa Kirin remains committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to the Kirin Group’s Environmental Vision 2050, including a target to reduce CO₂ emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 2019. We have already reported a reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in 2025 of 70% compared to our 2019 baseline, reflecting continued progress in areas such as renewable energy sourcing and operational efficiency.
Building on this progress, we continue to develop and implement targeted decarbonisation initiatives across our operations. These efforts are supported by improved data, governance and collaboration across our business, enabling us to embed sustainability into our decision-making and deliver long-term value for patients, society and the environment.
We are implementing new ways of working that will enable us to create long-lasting and sustainable solutions for our patients. We are working to conserve the environment for future generations, by understanding and minimising the environmental impact of our business operations.
Creating a healthier future means thinking beyond healthcare.
Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy guides how we care for patients, support our people, protect the environment and operate responsibly. Watch this short animation to learn more about our commitment to making a positive and lasting impact for the communities we serve.
Materiality
Materiality refers to the issues that are most important to Kyowa Kirin’s long-term success and the delivery of our Vision 2030. We have identified a set of priority areas, grouped into Topics for Value Creation and Topics for Value Enhancement, which align with the strategic pillars of Vision 2030. Together, these priorities help us provide medicines for unmet medical needs, address patient-centred healthcare needs, retain the trust of society and strengthen the management infrastructure needed to deliver life-changing value. Our materiality priorities are also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we are committed to contributing to their achievement as we continue to grow our business.
